Essential Vancouver Brunch Restaurants

Where to nurse that Sunday hangover

To go for brunch is to embrace self-indulgence. It means you, for whatever reason, probably did not wake up early enough in the morning to have a regular breakfast. It means you aren’t concerned with saving money enough to just whip up something at home. It also means you have enough free time that you can sit in a restaurant as the afternoon hours slip by, having your coffee cup refilled while you recap the previous evening’s events. Vancouver embraces the brunch spirit big time, and there are some great places you’ve got to check out if you haven’t yet.

Cafe Medina- 780 Richards St

An annoying thing about weekend brunch is that pretty much everyone in the city has the same idea, so you’re going to have to wait in line anywhere that’s got great food. Medina is considered one of the best restaurants in the city period, and for good reason. The menu is varied, the waffles are incredible, and, most importantly, they’ve got great coffee too.

Bon’s Off Broadway- 2451 Nanaimo St

Obviously Bon’s isn’t for everyone. It is unclean, and busy, and there are always obnoxious people in there. The walls are covered in movie posters and graffiti. Still, where else can you get a full breakfast for under $3? Where else can you walk up and refill your own coffee as often as you like? If you’re feeling like shit from the night before, Bon’s is a good reminder that great things can often seem shitty to the untrained eye.

Twisted Fork- 1147 Graville St

Twisted Fork is a tiny little restaurant with great atmosphere. The staff are willing to work with you to find the perfect menu item for you. They’ve got great stuffed banana French toast, eggs benedict, and when you order a coffee you get your own personal French press.
